I’ve always loved seeing what people can create using found objects. In high school, I was given a Scholastic art newsletter that featured Sandy Skoglund‘s surrealistic installations, and on the last page was advice on how to create your own awesomely weird sculptures and dioramas using whatever bric-a-brac was available. The kid pictured was lining up Barbie doll legs, toes to the sky, in rows on a flat surface for his project. MIND BLOWN
I also really love fashion illustrations for their simple, sleek beauty and limited use of color. Tang Chiew Ling combines both those kind of illustrations with found objects—in this case, those discovered in nature—by turning leaves in haute couture for pen-and-ink ladies.
