So many to choose from! Between the twins alone, we have Luke Shepard, the dude who thought he was a werewolf and slaughtered half of London. We have James, an accomplice of evil Margo’s whom Jess was hooking up with before Margo shoved him off a pier. We have Christian, the ex-gang leader whose noble pool death made it possible for Palisades High and SVH to live in peace. Then we sort of have vampire hottie Jonathan Cain, who probably doesn’t count because he’s actually undead. I’m sure I’m missing a few. But overall, the Best Dead Boyfriend is:

Sam was Jessica’s first true love, you guys! (Sorry A.J. Morgan and all those previous blokes.) Sam actually got Jess to settle down and not dry hump anyone else for fourteen whole books. If you’re familiar with SVH, you know what a feat that is. He was fun, charming, and drove a dirt bike, something Ned and Alice easily overlooked despite all the troubles motorcycles and the like gave them in the past. But alas, Sam’s Achilles’ heel was drinking Magic Punch and getting into a Jeep with Liz Wakefield behind the wheel on prom night. Poor form, Sam! If it weren’t for that, you might’ve lived to last another book or two before Jess dumped you for some foxy new guy.
