I dig Pia Bramley’s illustrations; I love sketchy, bare-bones drawings that still manage to be compelling. These is particular evoke something nostalgic in me, like the art found in childhood books like CDC? by William Steig and, of course, my super fav, Shel Silverstein. But while they’re comforting and youthful in that regard, there’s also something lonely about them. The figures often resemble ghosts, and not particularly happy ones. I totes dig it.
