There was a bright spot during my own personal Dark Ages in 2006: I got a cat! Cartoon was a Virgo, the color of dust, and the My Little Pony-sized runt of the litter when I first picked him up. He was my first kitty, as well my first pet I ever owned on my own as an adult, and so to me, everything he did was of great interest (He likes cheese!), immense horror/concern (Why was his entire eyeball red in the middle of the night?? Why was it back to the normal the next day?! HELP ME, MOMMY!), or both (He’s scaling the screen door!).
By early 2007, I had spent lots of time with my little buddy and so was confident in creating an illustrated list of all the things that tickled his fancy. And now, without further ado, I share it with thee!
Cartoon’s Favorite Things (In No Particular Order)
Playing in the empty bathtub

Diving into the open refrigerator

Eating food without properly chewing

Dicking around with the toilet paper

Playing in bits of newspaper
(This was discovered during a papier-mâché project.)

Feet! Socks! And shoes!

Licking condensation

Contemplating life while staring at the drain

Messing up the comic book pile

Attacking the invisible couch monster
(I never did figure out why he kept pouncing on the corner of the sofa)
Note: In later years, his hobbies were of the more chillaxing variety and came to include languishing in patches of sun, playing with plastic bags (his “clouds”) and plastic drinking straws, lurking by his food bowl at all hours of the day, and hogging the bed. <3
Question of the Week: What’re your pet’s or pets’ favorite things?
