An Illustrated Art History Journal: Prehistoric Europe to Ancient Rome

I started my undergraduate education as a graphic design major and was required to take an art history class, which I loved. The professor was cool; she had a black bob with straight-across bangs, wore funky necklaces, and had done all sorts of traveling. Livin’ the dream!

I also had a blast working on my required art history journal. I think we had to make one or two entries a week, simply reflecting on what we’d learned. But I love journaling and I love art, and I wanted to make an art journal that I’d enjoy so much I’d want to keep long after the class was over. And so, armed with stickers and markers and inspiration from MAD and Cracked magazines, I created the following pages.

Heck, maybe somewhere among the zany satire, you’ll learn a thing or two! (But probably not—it’s mostly lies!)

College freshmen forced to take art history as a gen ed, take note and let this post be your beacon of inspo — I did get an A, after all!
